The Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) has named three LJB structural engineers to its inaugural ranking of top tilt-up industry influencers.
- David Tomasula, a managing principal and the leader of LJB’s Structures practice, was named a Top 20 Industry Influencer.
- Erik Spicker, manager of LJB’s Houston office, was named a Top 50 Industry Influencer.
- Matt Bell, a project manager, was named a Top 50 Industry Influencer.
TCA, the international nonprofit trade association for the global tilt-up concrete construction industry, created its list of industry influencers to provide a credible resource for identifying those in the tilt-up industry who “have invested in becoming knowledgeable, qualified and recognized for their expertise.” To create the list, TCA created a framework to rate individuals in five categories: leadership, credentials, engagement, authority and profile.
“This listing serves to affirm the experience of industry professionals who are dedicated to steering this industry forward into the future,” said TCA executive director, Mitch Bloomquist, in an email.
LJB has been designing tilt-up buildings since the early 1970s—long before the benefits of tilt-up were globally realized. The LJB team has pioneered many design advancements during the past 50 years, including multistory wall panels, cast-in architectural finishes and progressive collapse avoidance. These innovations and unique applications have helped LJB win more Tilt-Up Concrete Association Achievement Awards than any other design firm.
