LJB is proud to announce that we have been part of two award-winning design teams during the month of October. These two award-winning projects highlight our structural engineering expertise and ability to help building teams bring exciting designs to fruition.
National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) DC/MD Chapter—Award of Excellence
Partnering with Powers Brown Architecture, LJB provided structural services for the 4600 River Road project near the University of Maryland at College Park. The four-story, 106,500-square-foot building provides office, lab, and collaboration space for a cyber security and IT workforce development company in Columbia, Maryland. The structure uses tilt-up concrete walls and still incorporates 45% glass for architectural appeal—with the remainder of the walls clad in brick, limestone, and sandblasted architectural mix concrete.
Tilt-Up Concrete Association—Tilt-Up Achievement Award
LJB’s structural team designed 8000 Redstone Gateway — a four-story tilt-up concrete Class A office building, strategically located just outside the secure gate of the Redstone Arsenal military base in Huntsville, Alabama. The building envelope for the 105,000-square-foot structure includes concrete tilt-up panels with large expanses of glass curtainwall, including prominent column-free curtainwall at the corners. The elevated floors and roof cantilever beyond the primary building entrance on the north entrance. The curtainwall on the ground level is setback on the east side to create a covered walkway. This project is one of many LJB has designed in the Redstone Gateway complex.
With this most recent recognition, LJB earned its 79th Tilt-Up Achievement Award—more than any other design firm in the world.
