William D. Lockwood founded company as a sole proprietor
1966
Name changed to Lockwood and Associate Consulting Engineers
1968
Designed first tilt-up concrete building in Midwest
1970
Name changed to Lockwood, Jones & Beals for founding partners—Bill Lockwood, Harold Jones and John Beals
1972
Merged with Thomas L. Poliquin & Associates, Engineers and Surveyors
1984
Took ownership of CON/STEEL Design Systems, LJB’s wholly owned subsidiary focused on structural design of concrete tilt-up structures
Firm officially incorporated
1985
Established CON/SPAN Bridge Systems
1986
Became a founding member of the Tilt-Up Concrete Association
Acquired Harry E. Misel Architects
1987
Opened office in Lima, Ohio
1990
Designed our first fall protection project, which led to our Safety by Design fall protection business
1994
Designed Ohio’s first modern roundabout in the City of Kettering
1996
Changed name to LJB Inc.
1999
Opened office in Lansing, Michigan
2000
Opened office in Cleveland, Ohio
2008
Designed Ohio’s first displaced left turn intersection in Montgomery County, Ohio
2010
Designed nation’s first Quadrant Roadway Intersection (QRI) for the City of Fairfield, Ohio
2011
Opened office in Houston, Texas
2014
Designed world’s largest tilt-up concrete building in Hockley, Texas
Established North Carolina operations with offices in Garner (Raleigh) and Wilmington
2015
Designed Ohio’s first composite bridge built with CFCC strands
2017
Designed Ohio’s first Greenroads Certified project
Opened office in Washington, D.C.
2018
Acquired Evans/Griffin, Inc., and established LJB office in Louisville, Kentucky
Acquired Jewell Engineering Consultants and established Kernersville, North Carolina, office
2019
Opened office in Charlotte, North Carolina
Acquired GGJ, Inc., expanding northern Ohio operations
2020
Acquired Bridge & Stream Engineering, Inc., expanding water resources capabilities and reach

Acquired Gorrill Palmer, expanding infrastructure services into Northeast
