In this project administered by six public entities, LJB was responsible for street, riverfront and recreational facility improvements, as well as environmental and risk assessments. Project components included utility relocation, curb realignment, ADA-compliant pedestrian facilities, lighting, new traffic signals, asphalt stamping and bikeway design.
LJB also designed a pedestrian bridge, safety improvements and overlooks on a vehicle/pedestrian bridge, a bikeway extension and a walkway on a river levee. Aggressive construction schedules required close coordination with concurrent projects in the same location, and LJB consistently and reliably met tight deadlines to facilitate the construction administration. In the complicated roadway construction design, which included moving curbs, maintaining overhead trolley lines and reconstructing sidewalks and pavement to meet current drainage standards, LJB was able to conserve both materials and money by saving the existing pavement on Monument Avenue.
