The Prevention through Design (PtD) concept allows an organization to evaluate and implement safety measures during the programming and design phases of a project. Preventing injuries and illnesses mitigates risk, and evaluating safety measures early in the design process saves money.
Although it may be easier to see safety hazards in an existing facility, it is safer and more cost effective to implement safety measures before structures or processes are built. Organizations who have applied PtD programs have proven meaningful results: life-threatening work hazards are reduced, productivity is improved, and costs are lowered.
